Acupuncturist

Acupuncture and Oriental MedicineAngela D. Gainer, L.Ac. believes that healing is not just about addressing your physical issues, but helping you find your way to a life that is also balanced emotionally, and with a sense of spiritual connectedness. She employs a heart-centered healing approach to gently guide you to optimum wellness.

Angela has always been interested in health and healing but found the traditional approach to medicine lacked the connection between a person's physical symptoms and spiritual and emotional selves. After a car accident sent her to an acupuncturist in 1986, Angela discovered the holism of Chinese medicine and knew there was another way. She began studying how our thoughts and feelings as well as our sense of connection to our life path connect to the ways in which we manifest physical disharmonies, and developed a truly holistic approach to healing. She has over 26 years experience.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Spanish Language from Austin College in Sherman, TX in 1980, and a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM in 1995. She completed a two-year continuing education program with Lonny Jarrett, M.Ac. in 2002 and is licensed to practice acupuncture in Colorado as well as being a certified diplomat of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She studied at Kairos Institute for Sound Healing and became an Acutonics practitioner and instructor, teaching classes in sound healing all over the United States and was the first instructor to teach a bilingual class in Cuernavaca, Mexico. As the acupuncturist for Memorial Hospital for two years, she completed a certificate training program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City on Acupuncture for the Cancer Patient in 2005. More recently she studied trauma informed care (TIC) with Janae Weinhold PhD and Barry Weinhold PhD and for the past six years has incorporated these teachings into her practice as a fundamental support for clients dealing with event  trauma, as well as conditions arising from developmental trauma. She is certified to offer TIC trainings.

Her areas of specialty include women's health, chronic illnesses especially related to stress conditions resulting in chronic inflammation, oncology patients undergoing traditional treatments, and most recently, trauma-related conditions such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, and pain.
